About Us
Chapin Chiropractic Center was formed in 1983 by Dr. Gerald V. Long. He has groomed many associates over the years who have gone on to form their own practices in the greater Columbia area. Dr. Matthew Nelson worked under Dr. Long the latter part of 2008 and joined the practice on January 26, 2009. Dr. Nelson is a graduate of Chapin High School, the University of South Carolina and Sherman College of Chiropractic.
Dr. Matt is the son of Rick & Julie Nelson of Chapin. He and his wife, the former Leslie Campbell, reside in Chapin. Leslie is also a graduate of Chapin High School as well as Lander University. She is the daughter of Terry & Donna Campbell of Chapin.
After graduating from Sherman Chiropractic, Dr. Nelson decided that he wanted to return to Chapin and the surrounding Lake Murray community to help people maintain and improve their health through non-invasive techniques such as manual (spinal adjusting, manipulation, muscle work and exercise) and physiologic (nutrition and lifestyle modification) approaches to healing the body.
Dr. Long retired from Chapin Chiropractic Center December 31, 2010 and has entrusted Dr. Matthew Nelson to continue providing chiropractic care for both his Newberry patients and those in and around Chapin.
